5 Ways to Refresh Your Brand

01

Schedule a Photoshoot

Photos can immediately elevate your brand and communicate your story, values or uniqueness in a powerful way (while providing you with months of fresh, new content).

This photo is from half-day shoot last month that focused on storytelling around my client's most asked questions about how their jewelry is made.

—Photoshoot Ideas:

+ Photos around your process, how you do what you do or what ingredients or elements go into it.

+ New photos of your team or yourself at work or enjoying a new season.

+ Photos that storytell around your values, what you care about when it comes to serving your customers or community. It could be as simple as dropping off their packages to the post office or writing a thank you note that goes into each order.

+ Photos that show you planning for future releases, services or promotions. This is a great day to build interest and momentum around a future product or launch.

02

Update your Website

If your site is more than three years old, it might be time for a refresh to keep it up-to-date with you and technology.

I've been updating many websites lately to Squarespace 7.1, which just released accordion blocks. These work great for creating an FAQ page or cleaning up text-heavy pages.

—Ideas for updating:

+ Add an FAQ page of your most commonly asked questions.

+ Update photos/headshots of you and your team or hero images on your homepage.

+ Update your messaging to speak more directly to your customers' needs and desires.

+ Clean-up text heavy pages with better design and layouts or by simple reducing copy and seeing how you can say things more clearly and in less words.

03

Refresh your Brand Colors

Colors create strong psychological and emotional connections. Which is why it's one way to refresh your brand with little effort.

The changes don't have to be big to make a difference. If you only have a few brand colors, consider adding a few complimentary or an accent color to update your brand.

04

Refresh your Messaging

Think about what you've learned from your clients so far. What words do they use? What questions do you keep getting?

I recommend you audit your messaging every 3 months to ensure you are speaking to your customers' pain points, motivations and desires as they evolve with you.

05

Change Up Your Packaging

Your product may stay the same, but your packaging doesn't have to. I always encourage clients to have fun with their packaging.

Low-cost or quantity elements like stickers, tissue paper and small bags are perfect for changing up seasonally or as a mini brand refresh.
